The Birth of Venus, painting by Italian artist Sandro Botticelli, in case of which the date of creation is not certain, is an example of the revival of mythological motifs in the Florentine Renaissance. Contrary to the title, the painting does not depict the birth of the goddess of love Venus, but her arrival to one of Greek islands. Painted on canvas (172.5 high and 278.9 cm wide), the scene is in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
